The Branding Book And A Bargain

In the middle of all of this moving, I managed to finish what I was calling “The Branding Book.” Last spring, I wrote a series of posts on branding for authors, and like so many topics I explore on my publishing blog, this topic grew and grew as people asked questions. You can see the original posts (in a slightly different order) with the comments and questions starting here.

I had to put the book in order, get rid of the repetition, and figure out what went into the book and what stayed out. I also had to find a few more cartoons. You’ll note there is an Andrew Genn cartoon on the cover. By the third or fourth post, I found that Genn had an entire series of cartoons on branding, business, and advertising. They became a kind of brand for the series.

I decided they would be in the book in front of each chapter. But that meant I had to find cartoons for the early chapters.

I pushed it to the deadline—and yes, I had a deadline. You see, Jason Chen of Storybundle had given me a May slot for a writing storybundle. And I planned to put what I was still calling “The Branding Book” in it.

But that meant the book had to be done, edited, copyedited, and designed long before May. WMG Publishing needed a lot of lead time because my nonfiction is…quirky…to say the least. So, I had to have the book done in the first week or two of March.

And that was the point Dean bundled me into a car and got me to Las Vegas to get away from my toxic neighbor. I was quite sick. But my trusty laptop and I managed to finish the book, and find the cartoons, and get everything turned in. (What else can you do when you’re a passenger in a car going down I-5 in California?)

The book, retitled Creating Your Author Brand, came out on April 23. Allyson & the crew at WMG did a miraculous job finishing the book fast. You can get it in paper or in ebook. If you’re an ebook kinda person, though, you really should pick up the Storybundle that contains Creating Your Author Brand.

The ebook for Creating Your Author Brand costs $5.99. There are seven other books in the bundle, along with a WMG Publishing writing lecture, and a 30 day course from Steven Barnes. The lecture and the course alone are worth over $100. Add to that the rest of the books, all of which you’ll find useful, and you’ll get a heck of a deal. Because to get all of that content, you need to spend $15. Yep. That’s a heck of a savings.

You have to hurry, though. The bundle ends on May 17.

The initial titles in The Write Stuff 2018 Bundle (minimum $5 to purchase) are:

  • Completing the Writer’s To-Do List by Tonya D. Price, MBA
  • Creating Your Author Brand by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
  • Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling by Dean Wesley Smith
  • Business For Breakfast Vol. 7: Three Act Structure for Professional Writers by Blaze Ward

If you pay at least the bonus price of just $15, you get all four of the regular titles, plus SIX more!

  • Secrets to Effective Author Marketing by Maggie McVay Lynch
  • Estate Planning for Authors by M.L. Buchman
  • Business For Breakfast Vol. 5: Business Planning for Professional Publishers by Leah Cutter
  • How to Get Your Book Into Schools by David H. Hendrickson
  • WMG Publishing Presents: Heinlen’s Rules Writing Lecture by Dean Wesley Smith
  • The Ancient Child Thirty Day Program by Steven Barnes

So there you go. Lots of good stuff for you writers. And you non-writers, you can give the bundle as a gift to your writer friends. There are instructions on the Storybundle site for giving gifts.

Speaking of gifts, we also have a charity attached to the bundle. If you want to throw in a few extra dollars for AbleGamers, you’ll make someone’s day. I always think that’s the best bonus of all.
